Inspired by the success of his first book, Classic Winners 1980-2015, John Crofts has now created the first volume in a new series of six books entitled Best Horses of the Decade.
This second in the Decade series features over 350 colour photographs and profiles ninety of the best European horses of the 80s. There were none of the quality of Brigadier Gerard and Mill Reef to applaud, or a Nijinsky, a rare winner of the Triple Crown, but the performances of Dancing Brave were worth going a long way to see. There were also two excellent middle-distance runners, Shergar and Reference Point, and a succession of sprinters of the highest class, headed by Moorestyle and Habibti.
This book includes contributions from guest writers, Ian Balding and Sir Mark Prescott and many photographs by the award-winning racing photographer, Ed Byrne. The next in this series, to be published in 2018, will cover the decade of the 1990s.
